The New York Mets shocked the baseball world when they traded for Cleveland Indians star shortstop Francisco Lindor and starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco this past offseason. Lindor has quickly won over the Mets' fanbase, but Carrasco hasn't seen the field.

Carrasco's been dealing with a torn hamstring from back in March and continues the long rehab process. Fortunately for New York, Mets manager Luis Rojas recently provided a very optimistic update on the 11-year MLB veteran.

Rojas went on to provide a potential timeline for his new starting pitcher, saying that potentially late July or early August is the current target. That's great news for New York fans, especially considering how lengthy a rehab is for something like a torn hamstring.

The Mets already have one of the best pitching staffs in baseball with their 3.33 team ERA, which is the fourth-best mark this season. They achieved this without Carrasco, a career 3.77 pitcher with 88 MLB wins on his resume.

New York remains in first place in the NL East standings with their 41-36 overall record. Currently, the Mets own the second-best odds (+900) among NL teams to win the World Series in 2021 on FanDuel Sportsbook. Adding another veteran starter to this pitching staff is another important piece for New York's potential run in October.
