The Seattle Mariners head into the second half of the MLB season in a tight Wild Card playoff race. Seattle currently sits in the second Wild Card spot, but there are five teams within 3.5 games of them. While the Mariners are expected to be pretty active at the trade deadline, they're on the verge of getting one upgrade that won't require making a trade.

Mitch Haniger Injury Update

Outfielder Mitch Haniger is preparing for his first rehab assignment with the Everett AquaSox after being placed on the 60-day IL back in April.

Haniger enjoyed a breakout season in 2021, and was one of Seattle's best players. He slashed .253/.318/.486 with 39 home runs and 100 RBI. Adding that type of production back into the lineup will be huge for the team's playoff push, and they won't have to give up anything to get it.

Seattle owns +4000 odds to win the 2022 World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, good enough to be tied for the 10th-best odds in the MLB.
