Los Angeles FC may have been unceremoniously bounced from U.S. Open Cup last week, but the club is still the oddsmakers' favorite to hoist the MLS Cup at the end of the 2019 Major League Soccer season.

LAFC owns the best odds to win the 2019 MLS Cup with +185 odds, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The defending MLS Cup champion Atlanta United, the Los Angeles Galaxy and New York City FC are in a very distant tie for the second-best odds at +1000.

With a 14-4-2 record and commanding 10-point lead in the Supporter's Shield race, LAFC has been the class of the league since Week 1. However, the Black and Gold will face its toughest test to date when they take on their crosstown rival Galaxy on Friday evening in this season's first iteration of "El Trafico." A win for either club could cause a considerable shift in the MLS Cup odds moving forward.

One team that could be on a downward trend, despite their high odds to win the cup, is NYCFC. The Pigeons have looked shaky after their MLS-best 12-match unbeaten streak was snapped last week and they've now lost two straight contests, including a controversial road loss to the surging New York Red Bulls (+1300) in the Hudson River Derby.

On the other hand, the San Jose Earthquakes, who currently sit in fifth place on the Western Conference standings, could see their MLS Cup odds noticeably improve from +2300 if they remain in their current form. The Quakes have vaulted up the standings in recent weeks thanks to their impressive play, going 4-1-1 (W-D-L) over their last six contests.

There's still plenty of soccer left to be played in the MLS season and a lot can change over the next 12 weeks. However, barring an uncharacteristic run of poor form, it'll be an incredible task to dethrone LAFC as MLS Cup favorites.
