3 Most Likely Teams to Draft Kellen Mond in Day 2

A whopping five quarterbacks went in the first 15 picks of the 2021 NFL Draft. Even with such a heavy run on signal-callers, there are still a ton of talented passers left on the board as we head into Day 2.

One of the most intriguing names of that second-tier group is Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond. Mond was an extremely productive four-year starter during his time in College Station, and he has a real shot to hear his name called on Day 2.

With that in mind, here are the most likely destinations for Mond as we head into Day 2 of the draft.

3. New York Giants (No. 76)

This one may come as a bit of a shock, but it's not insane to think the New York Giants could spend a mid-round pick on a quarterback. If Daniel Jones can't succeed while throwing to Kenny Golladay, Kadarius Toney, Evan Engram, Saquon Barkley and Sterling Shepard, he's just never going to be the guy. Picking a developmental prospect like Mond could be a great insurance policy in case Jones doesn't perform in the early part of the 2021 campaign. Mond would also be a much more exciting backup than the Giants' current QB2, Mike Glennon. That could prove to be important as Jones missed two games in 2020.

2. Minnesota Vikings (No. 66, No. 78, No. 86, No. 90)

The Minnesota Vikings have a whopping four picks in the third round of the draft. Though there are plenty of holes this team needs to address, general manager Rick Spielman has enough capital to address each of them and then some. It wouldn't be a shock to see Minnesota use one of its seven picks from Round 3-4 on a a developmental QB prospect like Mond. There appears to be a ceiling on how far Kirk Cousins can take this team, and Mond has the talent to raise that if he pans out.

1. Washington Football Team (No. 51, No. 74, No. 82)

There's a real chance that the Washington Football Team has three cracks at landing Mond on Day 2. It's hard to imagine Washington passing up on a talent like that three times. Ryan Fitzpatrick will be a solid stopgap option this season, but at 38 years old this team obviously needs a QB of the future. Mond could very well be that guy.
