Despite how he's supposed to be the Milwaukee Bucks' second-best player, Khris Middleton has been inconsistent throughout the 2020-21 NBA Playoffs. After an encouraging 29-point performance in the Bucks' Game 1 loss to the Phoenix Suns, the two-time NBA All-Star followed it up with a disappointing showing as Milwaukee lost, 118-108, on Thursday.

As one can imagine following a performance like that Middleton just had, the small forward's NBA Finals MVP odds have plummeted, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

NBA Finals MVP Odds

When the Bucks and Suns began the series, Middleton had +650 odds to be named Finals MVP. However, following his abysmal Game 2 performance, his odds have shifted to an unfavorable +9000. The drastic change comes at the hands of him finishing Thursday's game with just 11 points while shooting 31.3% from the field and 16.7% on 3-point attempts.

Middleton may not ever catch teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo (+400) when it comes to the NBA Finals MVP race, but that doesn't change the fact that the Bucks need him to be better if he wants to help his team win its first championship since 1971.

The good news is that the Bucks will be at home for Sunday's Game 3 and that's where Middleton plays his best basketball. He's averaging 24.0 PPG/7.8 RPG/5.4 APG on .475/.375/.848 shooting splits, which is an improvement over his .404/.315/.939 road shooting averages. Only time will tell if this prior history continues on Sunday.
