Manager Kevin Cash gave Tampa Bay Rays fans a scare on Monday night when he scratched Wander Franco late from the lineup due to right quad tightness. The Rays ended up falling, 4-2, to the Chicago Cubs, but it wasn't all bad news.
Cash provided an update on the face of Tampa Bay's franchise following the game.
Wander Franco Injury Update
Franco is expected to re-join the Rays lineup on Tuesday when they take on the Cubs in the second game of this three-game series. He even doubled down, saying Franco was actually ready to pinch hit in the 9th inning of Monday's loss.
It looks to be more of a routine day of rest than anything seriously injury related for Franco.
His presence is missed any time he's absent from Tampa Bay's starting nine. The 21-year-old phenom is already slashing .381/.386/.548 with five doubles and five RBIs through 10 games.
Tampa Bay now sits at 5-6 on the year, but should have no problems competing for the postseason. FanDuel Sportsbook's MLB Odds show the Rays at +350 to win the AL East.
