News dropped on Thursday that quarterback Deshaun Watson's suspension has increased from six games to 11 games in the 2022 NFL season. It leaves the Cleveland Browns without their starter for over half of the season and catapults veteran Jacoby Brissett into a leading position on offense.

From a fantasy football perspective, this is a big deal. Watson now free falls down the rankings in redraft leagues as Brissett climbs into low-end QB2 range in his place. Let's dive deeper into what Brissett's outlook lines up to be on an offense that features no shortage of big-time names.

Jacoby Brissett Fantasy Outlook

There is not going to be high expectations for Brissett in 2022 for a number of reasons. To start off, the six-year NFL journeyman owns a 14-23 record in his career and has spent the last two seasons on the sideline as a backup. He is also stuck in a Browns' offense that has long relied on the rushing attack to get the job done. Cleveland posted a 46.0% rushing play percentage in 2021 (No. 6 in NFL).

However, low expectations means Brissett won't have to do too much to be a QB worth rostering this fall. Defenses should be stacking the box against Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, leaving the deeper part of the field open for Brissett to exploit. Keep in mind the Browns face six defenses through the first eight weeks that ranked in the bottom half of the NFL in 2021 pass defense DVOA rating.

Wide receiver Amari Cooper has also proven capable of separating from defenders on a regular basis. His 9.3 yards before contact per reception last year shows that he can be a security blanket for Brissett to rely on each and every play. 13 career rushing touchdowns makes Brissett a sneaky touchdown vulture when near the goal line, too. It all comes down to how he will be utilized.

No one is expecting the 28-year-old to ball out with a top-12 QB finish every week, but Brissett is set up well to do it a few times before Watson returns.

Jacoby Brissett ADP

Brissett's is currently going undrafted in many leagues right now as the No. 38 quarterback taken off the board, according to FantasyPros. Of course, that will no longer be the case. He should have no trouble jumping over players like Geno Smith, Kenny Pickett and Marcus Mariota as a low-end QB2 who is worth consideration in superflex or 2QB leagues.
