Morant stuffed the stat sheet with 26 points, 11 assists and a season-high 13 rebounds in 30 minutes of work for his second triple-double of the year. He also added a pair of steals for good measure, becoming the Grizzlies' franchise leader in triple-doubles in the process.
The 23-year-old has continued to improve in his fourth NBA season, averaging career highs in points (28.3), rebounds (6.6) and assists (7.6). His stellar play has helped Memphis surge to second place in the Western Conference, where the Grizz are tied with the Phoenix Suns at 16-9.
If Morant keeps it up and Memphis keeps winning, look for him to emerge as a more serious MVP candidate as the season progresses. He currently has the ninth-best MVP odds on FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA odds at +3000, putting him between Donovan Mitchell (+2700) and reigning winner Nikola Jokic (+3200).
If you're looking to make a dark-horse bet on the NBA MVP this year, Morant is as good a pick as any.
