The New Orleans Pelicans are back in action on Wednesday night as they face the Minnesota Timberwolves at 8 p.m. ET. One player's status to keep an eye on ahead of tip-off is Brandon Ingram, who's eyeing a return after being sidelined for nearly two months by a toe injury.
Brandon Ingram Injury Update (1/25/2023)
The latest update on Ingram is great news for the Pelicans. He's expected to be in the lineup for New Orleans on Wednesday barring any setbacks, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Ingram last suited up on Nov. 25 against the Memphis Grizzlies. He went down with a brusied left big toe in that contest and has been sidelined ever since, missing the Pels' last 29 games while he rehabs.
Ingram's absence has made things very difficult for New Orleans, especially with fellow star Zion Williamson now out with a hamstring strain as well. Across the 33 total games Ingram has sat out this season, the Pelicans have gone just 17-16.
Now that he's set to return, though, New Orleans could start to climb up the standings. Willie Green's squad is already No. 4 in the Western Conference right now despite weathering extended missed time from its star forwards.
Brandon Ingram Fantasy Outlook and Prop Bets Today
Ingram does not currently have any prop bets available on FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA odds, as his status has yet to be finalized. Assuming Ingram does play, he'll have major rust to shake off after two months away from live game action. Targeting the under on his scoring or assist total would be a wise move, especially if he has any kind of minutes restriction.
Assuming Ingram is cleared to play, he shouldn't be on the FanDuel DFS radar as he gets back up to speed. It is simply way more likely he disappoints rather than impresses, even at a $7,500 price tag. Instead, CJ McCollum ($8,100) may be the Pelicans player to target tonight. Ingram's pure presence on the floor finally gives New Orleans another legit offensive threat alongside McCollum, which will prevent defenses from keying in on the scoring-minded guard from now on. McCollum should also remain the primary ball-handler while Ingram works his way back, which should help boost his assist numbers.
