On the heels of a surprising playoff appearance in which they pushed Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees to five games in the ALDS, the Cleveland Guardians enter 2023 ahead of schedule. A cast of relatively unproven prospects and Jose Ramirez put together a 92-win season and won the AL Central crown in 2022, and making this situation even sweeter is new influx of talent on the way.

Baseball America recently released their new Top 100 list of MLB prospects and the Guardians dominated the list with seven players listed. Only the Baltimore Orioles, another young up-and-coming team, had more (8).

Cleveland Guardians Top Prospects

Cleveland's list is highlighted by a pair of top pitching prospects in righties Daniel Espino and Gavin Williams. The pair rank first and third, respectively, on MLB.com's list of top Guardians prospects.

Espino and Williams are not the only pitching talents on this list, however, as Logan Allen and Tanner Bibee also join the top 100 at No. 85 and No. 86. It should be noted what a position of strength this is for Cleveland. Last year, the Guardians ranked sixth in staff ERA (3.47) and 10th in ERA from their starting rotation (3.73).

Espino and Williams both reached Double-A a year ago, so it will be interesting if Cleveland plans to get them any MLB action in 2023. They'll likely start the year at Triple-A.

The Guardians have been shopping some of the lower members of their current starting rotation such as Aaron Civale and Zach Plesac -- a sign they are confident in their ability to complete the development of a talented group of pitching prospects across their minor leagues.

Some position players landed on the list for Cleveland as well, including catcher Bo Naylor, outfielder George Valera and shortstop Brayan Rocchio.
