The Cleveland Guardians are in position to battle for an AL Central title and upgrading a few roster spots through the MLB trade market would only better their chances of winning. Insider Zack Meisel predicts a top prospect from the team's shortstop stockpile will be the one dealt away as a result.

Cleveland Guardians Trade Rumors

Meisel mentions that the team could trade any one of Amed Rosario, Tyler Freeman, Gabriel Arias or Brayan Rocchio. It's Freeman that sticks out as the most likely option, though, considering he would bring back a valuable return without leaving Cleveland looking for a replacement in the farm system.

Freeman is the organization's No. 5 prospect and only 23 years old. That immediately makes him an intriguing target for rebuilding teams. It doesn't hurt that he owns a career slash line of .312/.377/.433 in the minor leagues as well. Freeman has racked up 7 doubles and 34 RBI across 48 games in 2022.

Trading Freeman for an established outfielder could be the missing piece to the puzzle for manager Terry Francona. Cleveland has gotten a total of 8 home runs from their outfielders this season and recently parted ways with Oscar Mercado following his poor start to the year (.202 batting average).

No matter what, a Freeman departure would prove that the Guardians are not messing around despite having the third-lowest payroll in the sport. Cleveland currently has odds set at +310 to win the AL Central and odds set at +7500 to win the World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
