The Cleveland Browns spent a second-round pick on LSU safety Grant Delpit in the 2020 NFL Draft. Delpit was largely viewed as a steal at the time, but injury issues have derailed the 22-year-old's career thus far.

He missed the entire 2020 campaign due to a torn Achilles. And now, the safety is dealing with a hamstring issue that has sidelined him for most of camp. There's still about three weeks until the Browns face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1, but Delpit's status for the season opener appears to be in jeopardy.

Grant Delpit Injury Update

Delpit has reportedly only been healthy enough to play about nine snaps in training camp thus far, according to secondary coach Jeff Howard.

Obviously, Cleveland would prefer to have the talented safety on the field once Week 1 rolls around. But the Browns should be just fine if he can't go.

General manager Andrew Berry brought in stud safety John Johnson III via free agency this offseason. Strong safety Ronnie Harrison also played quite well during his first season with the Browns, and second-round draft pick Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah has some experience at safety and is versatile enough to play some snaps there in a pinch.

Still, having a rangy ballhawk patrolling the secondary like Delpit could help take this Browns' defense to the next level. Hopefully he can get back on the field soon.

Cleveland currently has the league's seventh-best Super Bowl odds, per FanDuel Sportsbook.
