The NFC East division is wide open heading into the 2021 season and the New York Giants get back a number of key players from injury. That combination alone creates some optimism for the Giants & their fans, but the team is still getting disrespected by their spot in ESPN's latest NFL power rankings.

Giants News

The Giants check in at No. 24, which is notably one spot lower than their ranking before the preseason began. Considering the Dallas Cowboys (No. 12) and Washington Football Team (No. 20) each finished within 1.0 game of the Giants last season, it doesn't make too much sense.

It was clear that quarterback Daniel Jones & company struggled to score in 2020, but that was without starting running back Saquon Barkley. Barkley is now back and ready to contribute as he averages just under 115 yards from scrimmage per game in his career and has scored a total of 23 touchdowns in 31 games played.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Giants are led by Pro Bowl linebacker Blake Martinez and a pass rushing unit that posted 40 sacks last season (No. 13 in NFL). Free agent signing Adoree Jackson helps improve the secondary as he has racked up 33 pass breakups and 2 interceptions in his four-year career.

The Giants have a golden opportunity to take advantage of a weak division and make the playoffs for the first time since 2016. They currently have odds set at +400 to take home the NFC East crown and odds set at +7000 to win the Super Bowl, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
