Bengals vs Rams Super Bowl Prop Bets
One of the most fun bets available is wagering on the first half spread. Let's break down the odds and give a pick for this prop heading into Bengals-Rams Super Bowl LVI.
First Half Spread Super Bowl Prop Bet
FanDuel Sportsbook has set the first half spread at -3 in favor of the Rams. That means Los Angeles would need to be up by more than a field goal at halftime, or else Cincinnati backers would cash the bet. However, if the Rams are up by exactly a field goal, the bet would push. Both sides have odds set at -110.
First Half Spread Super Bowl Prop Bet History
Five of the last six Super Bowl have seen the underdog cover the spread in the first half. On top of that, four of those five teams won the first half outright. Of course, that includes the massive 21-6 lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers jumped out to in last year's big game.
In terms of this specific first half spread, four of the last 10 Super Bowl halftime scores have been within 3 points or less. That includes two of the last three big games, though. The Rams trailed the New England Patriots by 3 at halftime of Super Bowl 53 while the Kansas City Chiefs were tied with the San Francisco 49ers at halftime of Super Bowl 54.
First Half Spread Super Bowl Prop Bet Prediction & Pick
Neither of these teams were dominant early on in games this season. The Rams have gone 11-9 against the spread (ATS) in the first half, while the Bengals have posted a first half ATS record of 10-10. Both teams are also 2-1 ATS in the first half of their three playoff games.
It's noteworthy to point out that both Cincinnati and Los Angeles are very similar in their scoring patterns. Both teams averaged just over 12.5 first half points per game during the regular season. While the Bengals allowed 12.2 first half points per game, the Rams held opponents to an average of 10.2.
If this number was below a field goal, betting on the Rams given their slight advantage in the defensive department might be a smart bet. The fact that it sits at 3 changes everything, though. Back the Bengals knowing that a win or a push is very much a possibility.
