Fantasy Football Week 1 No-Shows to Start in Week 2

Week 1 of the fantasy football season is typically full of hype and optimism. With a clean slate and a team or teams chocked full of the best players in the NFL, fantasy owners were set to have the perfect fantasy season. However, there seemingly never fails to be a handful of top-tier players that bring those owners back down to earth.
It's not always a long-term concern if a player flops in Week 1, but it's certainly worth looking at the apparent causes of the disappointment to see just how worried we should be. With that in mind, here are the biggest fantasy football no-shows from Week 1 that you should still start in Week 2.
4. David Montgomery, RB, Chicago Bears
The season-opening clash between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers was ugly all around, but David Montgomery's usage was particularly concerning for his fantasy owners. The much-hyped third-round rookie had only 18 yards on six carries (though he did add 27 on his lone reception), and he was out-touched by two other members of the Bears' backfield. Mike Davis had five carries and six receptions while Tarik Cohen caught eight passes on 10 targets. While fantasy owners likely had Montgomery slotted in as an RB2 in Week 1, he's more of a flex play against the Broncos in Week 2.
3. Kerryon Johnson, RB, Detroit Lions
Kerryon Johnson managed only 8.2 fantasy points (6.2 in non-PPR leagues) despite drawing what looked like an ideal matchup against the Arizona Cardinals in an up-tempo game that saw 54 points scored. Johnson did see 18 touches (16 carries, two receptions) in the game, so it's not all doom and gloom, but ceding 11 carries to C.J. Anderson isn't something Johnson's fantasy owners like to see. Still, 18 touches is a strong workload, so it's not time to hit the panic button just yet, especially facing a Chargers team in Week 2 that gave up a massive game to Marlon Mack of the Colts in Week 1.
2. Davante Adams, WR, Green Bay Packers
Another dud in that Thursday opener, Davante Adams turned in four receptions for 36 yards. His eight targets were a team-high though, accounting for a hefty 27 percent share of the Packers' total — right in line with last year's 28 percent market share. The Bears may have the best defense in football, so Adams can be fully excused for letting us down on opening night. While his fantasy owners are used to WR1 output, he has another tough matchup against All-Pro corner Xavier Rhodes in Week 2, meaning Adams likely ranks a little lower than usual.
1. Mike Evans, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had one of the most hyped-up offenses in the NFL heading into the 2019 NFL season, but looked awful against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1. Jameis Winston (a no-show in his own right, with only 194 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions) didn't target any player more than six times, and Mike Evans turned his five targets into two receptions for 28 yards. More concerning than Evans' lack of efficiency is how much Winston spread the ball, around, with Evans being one of five Bucs to record at least five targets – a paltry 14 percent market share. Evans spent much of the game across from Richard Sherman, though, and he has never averaged fewer than eight targets per game in an NFL season. There's nothing to worry about when it comes to Evans, making him a great player to target in trade talks if another owner was frustrated by the wide receiver's Week 1 performance.
