The Kansas City Chiefs are moving on to Super Bowl LV and will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But that victory came at a cost. Stalwart left tackle Eric Fisher left the game with an Achilles injury and was unable to return.

He was quickly ruled out, which is rarely a good sign when dealing with an Achilles injury. If he's unable to go in the Super Bowl, his absence could prove costly.

Eric Fisher Injury Update

Fisher had arguably his best season as a pro in 2020, receiving a 80.0 overall grade as a tackle from ProFootballFocus. That was the best such mark of his career. Mike Remmers switched from right to left tackle once Fisher went down. And even Remmers was only starting at RT because of an injury to Mitchell Schwartz.

Against a Buccaneers' defense that generates pressure at the third-highest rate in the league (27.2%), Fisher's absence and all the movement along the offensive line could be a real issue.

The Green Bay Packers learned that the hard way this week. They were forced to play the Bucs without their superstar left tackle David Bakhtiari. Aaron Rodgers was under duress all game as a result, getting sacked five times.

There's nothing official on Fisher's status just yet, so there's certainly still a chance he plays, but the odds of that happening don't look good.

Despite that, Kansas City is a -176 favorite to win the Lombardi Trophy, per FanDuel Sportsbook.
