Late-season acquisitions are usually what end up putting the best MLB teams over the top in playoff series. Well, it looks like the Chicago White Sox could get a boost from one of their own instead. Outfielder Eloy Jimenez has gotten off to a hot start during his minor-league rehab assignment.

Eloy Jimenez Injury

Jimenez is working his way back from a left pectoral injury he suffered in spring training and it seems to be going well so far. He has gone 3-for-7 with 1 home run, 2 RBI and a walk across two games with the High-A Winston Salem Dash. The powerful slugger simply keeps finding ways to get on base.

Although Jimenez is still weeks away from rejoining the big league squad, the 24-year-old remains way ahead of schedule. Getting his bat back in the lineup before the regular season come to an end would only improve a White Sox team that is already averaging 5.12 runs per game (No. 3 in MLB).

The third-year pro has done nothing but smack the cover off the baseball since debuting in 2019. Jimenez has slashed .276/.321/.527 with 45 home runs over the course of two seasons. Overall, he has racked up 95 runs scored and 120 RBI across 177 games played.

The White Sox (54-35) are currently 8.0 games up in the American League Central division and have the pieces in place to compete for the pennant. In fact, the team is tied for the third-best odds to win the World Series at +850, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
