The Arizona Diamondbacks got swept through their double-header yesterday against the Los Angeles Dodgers, but they lost more than just two games. Star second baseman Ketel Marte suffered a hand injury near the end of game 1 and was scratched from the game 2 lineup shortly after.

The team officially classified it as left hand soreness and it's assumed Marte is considered day-to-day for now.

Ketel Marte Injury Update

Despite low expectations, the Diamondbacks have gotten off to somewhat of a decent start this season considering what their projections were, sitting at 18-19 heading into Wednesday's action.

Marte has struggled to start the year though, hitting just .231 after a 2021 season that saw him put up a .318 average. Arizona isn't going to win the tough NL West, but if they expect to see significant improvement over last season, Marte will need to turn things around when he returns to the field.

Even with their better-than-expected start, the Diamondbacks still remain last in the odds to win the NL West at +25000, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest MLB odds.
