The Minnesota Vikings have quietly jumped out to a stellar 5-1 start to the season. While all the headlines are focused on the struggling Green Bay Packers, Minnesota has surged to the top of the NFC North standings with four straight victories prior to their Week 7 bye.
It's been a pretty smooth ride for the most part, outside of a ludicrous fine on running back Dalvin Cook for throwing a ball into the stands while celebrating his Week 6 touchdown. The fine took a turn on Tuesday.
Dalvin Cook Fine
Cook's fine was reduced by 25%, but according to insider Tom Pelissero, this change is contingent on the running back completing an online remedial training course (seriously).
Cook took to Twitter after hearing the news to poke fun at the "No Fun League."
Cook tweeted "4 will not throw footballs in the stands after touchdown" over and over in his mocking tweet. Picture Bart Simpson writing on a chalkboard in the intro of The Simpsons.
He followed up with another lighthearted tweet, perhaps fearing more discipline from the NFL, that read, "In all seriousness kids stay in school don’t break rules !!"
This funny fine has been the main instance of "controversy" stemming from Minnesota's locker room in 2022, a telling sign of how good things are going. At 5-1, the Vikings are given +1600 odds (5th) to win Super Bowl 57 on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
