“My understanding is that the Colts have offered 2 - 2nd round draft choices, maybe a 3rd or 4th down the road. That appears to be the best offer I have heard”#Eagles holding out for 1st!@6abc@JawsCEOQB pic.twitter.com/kYVbhwnL3h
Former Eagles QB Ron Jaworski has apparent insight on the deal, saying that Indy's offer has topped out at two second-round picks for Wentz, with possibly a future third- or fourth-round pick on the table as well. He described it as the Colts' "best" offer so far.
What Indianapolis is offering and what the Eagles were hoping to get are two very different things. It is believed that Philly at least wants a first-round pick, and their opening asking price was somewhere near the Detroit Lions' haul for Matthew Stafford.
The Colts need a QB, but it's clear they aren't going to overpay for Wentz, who's coming off of a terrible 2020 campaign.
The fact that Wentz is still on the market shows that Philly hasn't gotten what they were expecting. They may be forced to give in to the Colts' demands if they want to end this saga soon, especially with teams bowing out of the Wentz sweepstakes and getting frustrated with the Eagles.
