Chiefs Front Office Has Shocking Complaint About Orlando Brown During Contract Negotiations
By Larry Rupp

The Kansas City Chiefs solidified the left side of their offensive line when they traded a bevy of draft picks for Orlando Brown in April of 2021.
The hope was that a team-friendly deal could be agreed upon to keep Brown around for years to come, but all signs point to him playing on the franchise tag, and apparently the front office isn't happy about it.
On NFL Network, @jeffrichadiha shared what one #Chiefs front office person told him about Brown rejecting KC’s long-term deal:

“This isn’t the guy we traded for.”
This is in reference to Brown coming to KC as a team player that was willing to work out a team-friendly deal.

Brown rejected the Chiefs' latest offer, which offered the sixth-highest left tackle signing bonus and average annual value over six years. His main concern was "security over the life of the deal", according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. A bigger concern grew in the front office, though.
One Kansas City front office person told Jeffri Chadiha that "this isn't the guy we traded for." Brown was revered as a team player and one willing to negotiate when he first came to town. It makes sense given how he wanted out of Baltimore to play left tackle and the Chiefs made that wish come true.
Now, it's possible Brown holds out during training camp and even into the regular season if things don't start trending in the right direction. That would be a huge absence for Kansas City considering the 26-year-old allowed only 4 sacks across 1,127 offensive snaps played in the 2021 NFL season.
Kansas City has shown that they are not afraid to hold their ground after trading wide receiver Tyreek Hill and opting not to re-sign safety Tyrann Matheiu. Both players were seeking more money than the team was willing to dish out. It'll be interesting to see whether or not Brown suffers the same fate.
The Chiefs have the third-best odds to win Super Bowl 57 at +950, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
