The Seattle Seahawks may not have made big splashes in free agency, but they've been smart in the players they've targeted and team-friendly deals they've created. Seattle's careful salary cap planning and patience has allowed them to bring back key pieces like Chris Carson and Carlos Dunlap.

In fact, the Seahawks got Dunlap for a steal, as evidenced by the contract details that were recently revealed.

It turns out Dunlap's two-year contract has an additional three voidable years tacked on, spreading out his $7 million signing bonus. He has just a $2.9 million cap hit in 2020, between $1.5 million in base salary and $1.4 million in bonus money, giving Seattle some space to still work with this offseason.

Seattle actually released Dunlap earlier this offseason to free up money heading into free agency, so bringing the impactful EDGE back was already a win. Constructing his contract to maintain flexibility in an offseason where the team needs to improve is even better.

After arriving in a midseason trade, Dunlap totaled 14 QB Hits, 6.0 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks and 2 passes defended in eight contests. His presence elevates this defense, and now he'll be back for Seattle while giving them the chance to continue filling out the roster this offseason.
