The Arizona Cardinals posted just one winning season in four years under head coach Klff Kingsbury, which made his January firing not come as too much of a surprise. The front office is already eyeing one top coordinator in its search for a new leader as the core pieces are in place to compete in 2023.

Arizona is set to meet with Ejiro Evero in person on Friday. Evero was hired prior to the 2022 season as the Denver Broncos' defensive coordinator. His unit ended up finishing 10th in total DVOA rating and 13th in points allowed per game (21.1). Denver also racked up 23 takeaways (T-No. 14 in NFL).
Evero was asked to step in as interim head coach following Nathaniel Hackett's firing, but declined the opportunity. Prior to joining Denver, the 42-year-old shined as the secondary coach/passing game coordinator on a Los Angeles Rams coaching staff that won the Super Bowl in 2021.
It makes sense for Arizona to target a defensive candidate as it allowed a whopping 26.4 points per game this past season (No. 31 in NFL). The offense already has quarterback Kyler Murray leading the way, but the defense lacks many star players on the roster. Evero could bring about major change.
Arizona's coaching search is far from over as more interviews are expected to be conducted. Frank Reich and Vance Joseph have already met with the Cardinals in person, while candidates like Sean Payton, Brian Flores, Aaron Glenn and DeMeco Ryans have been contacted by the front office.
