The Cleveland Browns are fighting an uphill to make the playoffs, but they opened as sizable 5.5-point favorites against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 15.
That changed very suddenly on Wednesday morning, however, with a COVID outbreak on the team. After eight players tested positive on Tuesday, head coach Kevin Stefanski and quarterback Baker Mayfield joined the list.
Mayfield would need to produce two negative tests between now and Saturday to play this week.
FanDuel Sportsbook took down the betting line as we waited to see who the other positives that were expected to be announced were. The lines are now back up, and Cleveland is favored by just 1 point, with the moneyline sitting as a pick 'em at -108 on either side.
Mayfield hasn't exactly been lights-out this season, but this movement highlights just how much of a downgrade to this offense it will be to have Case Keenum under center.
With potentially no Mayfield and no Kareem Hunt, we can expect to see a healthy dose of Nick Chubb on Sunday, but that's not ideal for Cleveland.
Chubb is one of the league's best backs, for sure, but this Las Vegas Raiders defense ranks No. 16 in Football Outsiders' rush defense DVOA metric, compared to No. 25 against the pass. A Chubb-heavy approach is playing into this unit's strength.
