Browns Insider Reveals One Veteran on the Roster Bubble Heading Into Training Camp
NFL training camp is right around the corner, which means veterans and rookies alike are going to be battling it out for the last few roster spots available. That includes players on the Cleveland Browns, as team insider Jake Trotter recently revealed one veteran in danger of being cut before Week 1.

Trotter detailed how running back D'Ernest Johnson finds himself on the roster bubble despite a pair of 100-yard rushing games in 2021. The 26-year-old was signed to a one-year extension this past offseason, but his efforts combined with his low salary ($900,00 guaranteed) make him a trade chip.
Johnson is stuck behind a powerful duo on the depth chart. Nick Chubb has a strong hold on the starting position and backup Kareem Hunt has shined as the No. 2 back on this team. Cleveland has also drafted a pair of ball-carriers in Jerome Ford and Demetric Felton over the last two years.
The idea of letting Johnson depart or trading him to a RB-needy team rather than giving him just a few carries a week makes sense. After all, the former South Florida standout has yet to miss a game in his career and posted 671 yards from scrimmage (5.6 average) as well as 3 touchdowns in 2021.
While the Browns have much bigger issues to take care of during training camp, keep an eye on what they decide to do with Johnson. Cleveland has odds set at +280 to win the AFC North and odds set at +3400 to win Super Bowl 57, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
