Broncos Being Disrespected by Odds for Chargers Game

The 2020 season has not gone as planned for plenty of NFL franchises, but one that's competing for the title of "most unfortunate," is the Denver Broncos. Fans have seen injury after injury, numerous COVID interruptions, and even recent legal troubles for running back Melvin Gordon.
After all that, they still managed to win two straight road games before getting obliterated by the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend. Now heading into another game in Denver, the Broncos will host the rival Los Angeles Chargers in Week 8, and the spread is a bit harsh.

The Chargers open up as 2.5-point road favorites on FanDuel Sportsbook. Sure, rookie quarterback Justin Herbert is playing at the top of his game right now, but this line is disrespectful for multiple reasons.
For starters, the game is being played in Denver, at Mile High altitudes. Herbert has never experienced this in his career, and first-time quarterbacks at Mile High don't generally fair as well, aside from Patrick Mahomes.

Secondly, the Broncos' 2020 record has been deceiving. They opened up with what we now realize was an extraordinarily difficult first three games; Tennessee Titans (5-1) at home, Pittsburgh Steelers (6-0) on the road, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-2) at home.
Then, with a third-string quarterback who was an undrafted free agent out of college, they managed to beat the New York Jets on the road. They followed that with the road upset over the New England Patriots. Outside of the Chiefs loss this weekend, the Broncos only had one loss by a differential over five points (Bucs). Considering all the injuries, their performances have been quite admirable.
The Chargers have also had numerous tough defeats, and this is no slight on them, but with both teams bruised and battered playing behind their hopeful franchise quarterbacks again, there is no reason the home team shouldn't get the edge in the line.
