The Milwaukee Brewers are enjoying a torrid 23-13 start to the 2022 campaign, but were hit with some unfortunate news on Tuesday afternoon.

The MLB announced a lengthy 80-game suspension for Brewers reliever J.C. Mejia after he tested positive for PEDs.

J.C. Mejía Suspension

Brewers insider Adam McCalvy reported the news, indicating Mejia tested positive for the synthetic steroid Stanozolol. His suspension will be effective immediately, and he will not be paid for the next 80 games including the 2022 postseason, should the Brewers advance.

Brewers News

Mejia owns just a "cup of coffee" of experience, both with the Brewers and at the MLB level. Milwaukee acquired Mejia from the Cleveland Guardians via trade in November. He began the year at Triple-A Nashville and was only called up a week ago.

The 25-year-old righty made two appearances with the Brewers this past week, allowing six earned runs and five hits across 2.1 innings pitched. Trevor Kelley was brought up from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move.
