One of the biggest surprises over the last few NFL seasons is the quickly developing play from Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. He has been at the forefront of this team's transformation and helped lead them to an AFC Championship game appearance last season.

Reports of a contract extension continue to be thrown around and Bills GM Brandon Beane recently talked about the timeline for something like that.

Beane said that the goal is to get a deal done either this year or next and lock down the QB for the long haul, instead of getting to the point where the team has to use the franchise tag.

Allen is entering the fourth year of his rookie contract, so there remains ample time to work something out. Making sure Allen sticks around is likely the top priority of the Bills' front office after he balled out in 2020, passing for 4,544 yards and racking up 45 total touchdowns.

It remains to be seen if Allen would be open to taking less than a top-dollar-type of deal. However, he seems to love being in Buffalo and knows that the fans want him to stick around as long as possible. A deal getting done before the end of this coming season is definitely a possibility.
