Week 12 of the NFL season once again brought us some unexpected results, with the New York Jets laying the hammer down on the Oakland Raiders and the Washington Redskins shocking the Detroit Lions to pull off their second win of the season.
If you avoided those upsets and are still alive in your survivor pool, first off, congratulations. And, secondly, here are three teams for you to consider when making your Week 13 survivor pool picks.
1. Carolina Panthers vs Washington Redskins, Sunday, 1 p.m. EST
The Panthers sit at 5-6 following three straight losses, but get a favorable matchup in Week 13 against the aforementioned Redskins. Christian McCaffrey has been the best running back in football this year, on his way to becoming the youngest player to attain a 99 rating in Madden. With Washington, the stud RB faces a defense that gives up the fifth-most rushing yards per game at 137.6, and a plus-matchup for the Panthers' best player could be a big part of the reason that Carolina is favored by 9.5 points, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. If McCaffrey can continue his excellence and exploit the Redskins' terrible rush defense, the Panthers should cruise to a Week 13 win.
2. Kansas City Chiefs vs Oakland Raiders, Sunday, 4:25 p.m. EST
The Kansas City Chiefs got back on track last week with a 24-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. In Week 13, the Chiefs face another division foe in the Oakland Raiders, as 9.5-point favorites, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Oakland's defense has struggled this season and should have a tough time keeping up with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs' lethal passing attack. Oakland gives up the fifth-most passing yards per game in the league (268.5), while Kansas City ranks No. 2 in passing yards per game (301.7). When one team's strength lines up with another's weakness, the strength often wins out.
3. Green Bay Packers at New York Giants, Sunday, 1 p.m. EST
Despite getting trounced by the San Francisco 49ers on "Sunday Night Football" in Week 12, the Green Bay Packers still sit at 8-3 and are one of the NFL's most talented teams. Led by quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay visits the New York Giants, a team that has struggled all season to the tune of a 2-9 record. Rodgers is in line for a great day facing the Giants' No. 26 ranked pass defense. As a 6.5-point road favorite on the road in New York, look for the Packers to bounce back with a W on Sunday.
