Baker Mayfield Projections for 2020 NFL Season Prove the Browns Offense is Massively Underrated
By Max Staley

Baker Mayfield looked poised for superstardom in 2018, as he broke the rookie passing touchdown record despite starting just 13 games. He followed that up with a 22-touchdown, 21-interception campaign in 2019, though, leading some to question whether or not the brash signal-caller is the real deal.
However, the Cleveland Browns have surrounded Mayfield with everything he needs to succeed in 2020. Entering a potential make-or-break year, Mayfield's projections for the 2020 season are much lower than one might expect, according to odds provided by FanDuel Sportsbook.

Baker Mayfield Projections 2020
The over/under for Mayfield's passing yard total has been set at 3,899.5, with even -112 odds on both sides. His passing touchdown total, meanwhile, is available at over/under 23.5, with even -112 odds on both sides as well. For context, that's the same yardage projection that Jimmy Garoppolo received, and it only gives him a slight edge on Daniel Jones (3,799.5) and Joe Burrow (3,800).
Assuming he stays healthy, Mayfield absolutely looks poised to out-perform these projections. In the 13 games he started as a rookie, the Browns' signal-caller was on a 16-game pace to record 4,337.0 passing yards and 33 touchdowns.
Even last season, when everything that could've possibly gone wrong seemingly did, Mayfield still finished just 73 yards and 2 touchdowns shy of hitting these totals.

With Kevin Stefanski, who just coaxed a career-best performance out of Kirk Cousins, at the helm in 2020 it's hard to imagine Mayfield playing as poorly as he did last season. He'll also benefit from having a healthy Odell Beckham Jr., and the additions of Austin Hooper, Jack Conklin and Jedrick Wills Jr..
Surrounded by top-tier weapons, a revamped offensive line and an innovative offensive mind at head coach, Mayfield has everything he needs to out-perform these projections.
