Athletics Officially Name 2022 Opening Day Starter

The Oakland Athletics' rotation has undergone a massive shakeup this offseason as the team continues to ship off established veterans in favor of prospects. Chris Bassitt and Sean Manaea might not be the only pitchers on the move as more trade rumors swirl ahead of Opening Day.
Amid the uncertainty, A's manager Mark Kotsay has named his starter for the first game of the season.

A's Opening Day Starter 2022
Frankie Montas has earned the nod to start Opening Day for Oakland. It's an intriguing decision since Montas' name continues to be brought up in trade rumors ahead of the season start, but Kotsay seemed confident a deal won't happen before he takes the mound for the first game.
It was between Montas and Manaea to draw the start on April 8, and the trade involving the latter cleared the way for an easy decision.
Montas is coming off of a productive year where he started an AL-high 32 games for the A's. He recorded a 13-9 record and 3.37 ERA for Oakland along with 207 strikeouts across 187 innings.
Montas will duel Aaron Nola on Opening Day as Athletics travel to face the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday.
Oakland enters the season with +25000 odds (No. 27) to win the 2022 World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
