The All-Star break was headlined by Los Angeles Angels' two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani as he became the first player to be named starting pitcher and hit leadoff in the same All-Star game. His ridiculous first half to the season has made him the odds-on favorite to take home the AL MVP award.
Ohtani leads all candidates with odds set at -290, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. That is well above the +210 odds Toronto Blue Jays slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. currently has. Guerrero Jr. became the youngest player to ever take home the All-Star game MVP award at 22 years of age and leads all of baseball with a .430 on-base percentage.
It's not a major shock to see Ohtani way out in front of the pack. The 27-year-old star leads all of baseball with 33 home runs and ranks third with 70 RBI. It also helps that Ohtani has a 4-1 record on the mound to go along with a 3.49 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 13 starts. His ability to make an impact all over the field is the key reason as to why the Angels remain in the AL Wild Card race.
These odds are sure to keep changing, but it seems to be a two man race moving forward. Here is how the rest of the odds shake out for the AL MVP winner.
2021 AL MVP Odds
1. Shohei Ohtani (-290)
2. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (+210)

6. Jose Ramirez (+5000)
7. Rafael Devers (+6000)
8. Mike Trout (+6000)
9. Carlos Correa (+6000)
