Cue the chorus of complaints coming from New England, claiming that the Patriots are once again being "disrespected" or that they're considered "underdogs" to win next year's Super Bowl.

With Super Bowl 53 just one week old, odds for who will win Super Bowl 54 are already available, and the Patriots aren't the favorite to repeat.

That honor goes to the Kansas City Chiefs at +700, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. But not to worry Pats fans, your defending Super Bowl champs have the second best odds at +750.

That the Chiefs have slightly better odds to win the 2020 Super Bowl isn't too outlandish. The Chiefs have the league's MVP in Patrick Mahomes and were the top seed in the AFC in the 2018-19 season. Mahomes led the Chiefs to the No. 1 ranked offense, both in terms of yards (6810) and points (545) and it's safe to assume that he will continue to dominate next season.

Unlike Kansas City, the Patriots are built around a veteran core of aging stars like Tom Brady, Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski (who is only 29, but seems to age in dog years), so logic says that their time in the sun will likely end sooner rather than later.

And don't sleep on the New Orleans Saints (+850), Los Angles Rams (+900) or any of the three teams tied at +1500 odds – Los Angeles Chargers, Indianapolis Colts and Pittsburgh Steelers.

That being said, the Patriots have been to the last three Super Bowls, winning two of them, and I'm hard pressed to say their reign of terror on the league is over until I see that happen. It will, however, be interesting to see how all of these team's odds are impacted once NFL free agency opens up.
