Creating interior pressure is one of the most surefire ways to throw an opposing quarterback off his game. Since entering the league in 2010, few players have been better at wreaking havoc on the interior than Gerald McCoy.

However, McCoy has battled injuries over the past few seasons, and the six-time Pro Bowler was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier this week. Now that he's a free agent, McCoy could be the missing piece that takes a team over the top.

With that in mind, here are four teams that could be Super Bowl contenders if they sign McCoy.

The Dallas Cowboys' defense took a massive leap forward last season, largely thanks to the play of young linebackers Leighton Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith. Adding McCoy could free up Vander Esch and Smith to dominate from sideline to sideline. It could also take some of the defensive attention away from DeMarcus Lawrence, who has 25 sacks over the last two seasons. Adding McCoy could be enough to make Dallas a truly terrifying defense, allowing the Cowboys' run-centric, conservative offense to control the clock and win plenty of low-scoring affairs.

3. Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns have already made a plethora of headline-worthy moves this offseason, but adding McCoy could really take this team over the top. Pairing McCoy with Myles Garrett, Olivier Vernon and Sheldon Richardson could give the Browns one of the most talented front sevens in the NFL. With Baker Mayfield and Odell Beckham Jr. leading the charge on offense, adding McCoy could give the Browns a Super Bowl defense.

2. Philadelphia Eagles

When the Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl in 2018, they had one of the most loaded defensive lines in the NFL. Philadelphia used a host of rotational pass rushers to ensure their defensive line remained fresh all game. That strategy paid off, culminating with nine hits on Tom Brady and a game-sealing strip sack in Super Bowl 52. Adding McCoy to a defensive line that already features Brandon Graham, Fletcher Cox and Malik Jackson could give Philadelphia the deepest line in the NFL.

1. Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts entered free agency with the most cap space in the NFL, but they've largely been conservative this offseason. While they've made some under-the-radar signings, like Justin Houston and Devin Funchess, McCoy could be the splashy addition that takes this team over the top. Adding McCoy would take a lot of attention away from Houston and Darius Leonard. Additionally, Tom Brady notoriously struggles when facing interior pressure, so adding McCoy could be a great way to help the Colts knock off the New England Patriots.
