The 2021 NFL Draft is almost here and an intriguing late first-round prospect to keep an eye on is Northwestern cornerback Greg Newsome II. Newsome racked up 71 tackles, 20 pass breakups and 1 interception over the course of three seasons (17 games) with the Wildcats.

A number of NFL teams will be looking to upgrade their secondary through the draft and could look towards this young playmaker as an option. With that in mind, here are three of the most likely NFL teams to draft Newsome.

1. Tennessee Titans (No. 22)

The Tennessee Titans are expected to upgrade their defense throughout this NFL Draft and they could look to start with Newsome. Newsome played shutdown coverage in college as opposing quarterbacks averaged a passer rating of just 31.7 when targeting him. That is the exact type of player the Titans are looking to bring in. Newsome has the size to cover any receiver and the speed to catch up when beat. He could possibly start for Tennessee Week 1 and has the potential to turn into one of its best defensive players.

2. New York Jets (No. 23)

It is no secret that the New York Jets need help on the defensive side of the ball as they gave up 275.6 passing yards per game last season (4th-most in NFL). Drafting Newsome would be a great way to start rebuilding their secondary as he gave up just 7.8 yards per reception to wideouts lined up against him in college. His quick reactions and route recognition skills are what set him apart from others at his position in this class. Newsome to the Jets makes a lot of sense.

3. Cleveland Browns (No. 26)

If Newsome falls in the first round past the other two teams listed, the Browns would likely grab him at No. 26 overall. While the Browns have a good pass rush, it doesn't always get home and they gave up 10.7 yards per reception last season (T-No. 22 in NFL). Newsome didn't allow a single receiver he covered in 2020 to surpass the 100-yard mark and would make a great pairing with starting cornerback Denzel Ward. Plus, he showed some toughness during college that would fit in well with this Cleveland defense.
