3 Contenders That Should Trade for Zach Ertz

With the Philadelphia Eagles entering a new era, several major roster changes will be made this offseason aside from starting quarterback. Tight end Zach Ertz is at the center of one of those moves, with many expecting the veteran to move on from the team after eight seasons in Philadelphia.

While 2020 was a down year, the Eagles were a mess, and he could bounce back in 2021. With that in mind, these three contenders should trade for Ertz this offseason.

3. Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers doesn't seem like a happy camper at the moment, but investing in his supporting cast is a good place to start for the Green Bay Packers. Rodgers is someone who loves his tight ends, as evidenced by Robert Tonyan's 11 receiving TDs this year. Both Tonyan (restricted) and Mercedes Lewis (unrestricted) are headed for free agency, and Ertz would be a great buy-low replacement for either of those guys.

2. Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks have a desperate need at tight end, as their best receiver at the position this year was Will Dissly with 251 yards. Veteran Greg Olsen is also set to retire, but Ertz would provide quarterback Rusell Wilson with a dependable pass-catcher at the position once again and add another element to a passing attack with D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett on the outside. It's no surprise they're one of two teams linked to Ertz already.

1. Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts are still figuring out their quarterback situation, but adding Ertz would make any incoming QB's job a lot easier. Although he dealt with injuries in 2020, he's still a force at his position when healthy, as evidenced by his 88 catches for 916 yards and 6 TDs in 2019. With the Colts looking to solidify their contender status in 2020 and having the cap space to make major additions, Ertz is an available talent who would boost this offense with Michael Pittman Jr. and Jonathan Taylor already on the roster.
