The Chicago White Sox will be missing a key player during Thursday's series finale against the Toronto Blue Jays as third baseman Yoan Moncada will be out of the lineup. The 26-year-old tweaked his wrist in Wednesday's tilt, however, it didn't appear to be anything serious even though it's an issue he's dealt without throughout the season.

White Sox manager Tony La Russa told reporters on Thursday that there isn't much to be concerned about when it comes to the decision. While the day off should give him some time for his wrist to heal, it's been planned for a while that he wouldn't have to suit up on Thursday.

Yoan Moncada Injury Update

After a disappointing performance in the 2020 MLB season, Moncada has looked like a different player this year. He's played in 116 games for the White Sox, recording 22 doubles, 11 home runs and 52 RBIs while being walked a career-high 68 times. That isn't even to mention how his 2021 slash line (.262/.373/.399) is a significant improvement over how he performed last year (.225/.320/.385).

While Moncada has been one of the White Sox's best players for a majority of the year, it's been the last couple of weeks where he's truly looked like a star. Over his last 10 games, Moncada has recorded 14 hits, a home run and 3 RBIs with a .378 batting average and .966 OPS. Unfortunately, the rest of the White Sox haven't been able to capitalize on his play as the team has gone 5-5 during that span.

Having lost two of their past three games, the White Sox can leave Toronto with a series split if they beat the Blue Jays Thursday afternoon. Unfortunately, that seems easier said than done. The Blue Jays will actually enter the game as the slight -110 favorites, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, while the White Sox sit at -106.
