Would You Rather: Own Zach Ertz or George Kittle in Fantasy Football

The tight end position has revealed itself as one of the most important slots on a fantasy football team over the years. While tight ends don't tend to score as much as quarterbacks, running backs or receivers, the lack of depth at the position makes an elite TE one of the most valuable assets in fantasy football.

Both George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers and Zach Ertz of the Philadelphia Eagles hope to find themselves at the top of these positional rankings once again in 2019, after finishing as Top-5 options in 2018. With that in mind, let's break down which tight end you'd rather have for the 2019 fantasy season.

Frankly, it's tough to pick between two players with this much talent. While Kittle led all tight ends in receiving yards a season ago (1,377), Ertz had eight TDs to Kittle's five. However, there's actually a chance both players improve on their production from last season.

Kittle and Ertz should be playing on improved offenses, as both Carson Wentz and Jimmy Garoppolo are returning from injuries.

Wentz played just 11 games for the Eagles last year, and Garoppolo suited up for just three games. Thus, both of these elite tight ends could see an increase in production for 2019, which only makes choosing between the two TEs more difficult.

However, Kittle might have a higher ceiling due to the fact that he's 25, while Ertz is 28. Kittle was also able to dominate in just his second season in the league, so he could take another step forward in his third year. That being said, Ertz has a longer history of sustained production, so he could be the safer pick.

Still, with Garoppolo back under center, and the potential that the 49ers' tight end is even better in his third year, Kittle has a slight edge over Ertz.
