Willson Contreras is officially a member of the St. Louis Cardinals after signing his contract with the team. The organization held an introductory press conference for its prized free agency signing on Friday to celebrate Contreras' arrival.
During his session with the media, the veteran catcher shared a hilarious exchange he recently had with new teammate Adam Wainwright.

Wainwright called Contreras after it was revealed he'd be signing with the Cardinals. The longtime St. Louis mainstay welcomed him to the team, and also jokingly asked Contreras if he thought they could record 329 starts together. This is an obvious reference to the number of starts Wainwright logged with former catcher Yadier Molina.
The 41-year-old Wainwright probably doesn't have enough in the tank to match the record he and Molina set, but it's amazing to see him so excited about his future with Contreras.
The Cards certainly hope there are plenty of Contreras-Wainwright starts in their future after spending $87.5 million to steal the All-Star catcher from the Chicago Cubs. He not only will take Molina's place behind the dish, but he also provides this lineup with a legitimate replacement for the hole left behind by Albert Pujols' retirement.
