It's official — the Colorado Avalanche will take on the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2022 NHL Stanley Cup Finals. Colorado has made its path to the finals look a lot easier than the Lightning have, but there's no denying that these are the top two teams in hockey.

Of course, the arrival of the 2022 Stanley Cup has fans thinking back on recent history, for many reasons.

Who Won the Stanley Cup 2021

The Tampa Bay Lightning were the 2021 Stanley Cup Champions. This made them the eighth franchise in NHL history to record back-to-back Cup wins, having also lifted the trophy in 2020. Coming off two straight wins, Tampa is now on the verge of being just the fourth franchise in NHL history to pull off a three-peat.
