White Sox Forced to Rethink Andrew Vaughn Injury Recovery
By Larry Rupp

Chicago White Sox outfielder Andrew Vaughn missed his fifth game in a row on Wednesday as he continues to battle a sore right hand injury. What was originally thought to be a minor issue is starting to cause more concern and the White Sox must now re-think the best strategy for Vaughn's recovery.

Andrew Vaughn Injury Update
Vaughn was hit by a pitch during Friday night's contest and X-rays taken afterward came back negative. However, inflammation remains five days later and the pain is still at an all-time high for the 24-year-old slugger. Manager Tony La Russa said a stint on the injured list is likely coming soon.
"The bruise is deep and it’s in an area where it’s a tough spot to handle it. It just alters everything you do so we’re definitely rethinking."

The White Sox could use Vaughn's powerful swing back in the lineup given they are only averaging 3.29 runs per game so far (No. 27 in MLB). He would be out at least another seven days if placed on the 10-day IL, though. Taking the safe route here would certainly help Vaughn get back to full health.
The second-year pro has posted a slash line of .283/.367/.566 across 16 games played this season to go along with 4 home runs, 12 RBI and 5 runs scored. Of course, Vaughn played a key role in securing a playoff berth in 2021 by smacking 15 homers and ranking fifth on the team with 98 hits.
Keep an eye out for any more updates regarding Vaughn's status over the next week. For now, the White Sox have odds set at +2000 to win the World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
