White Sox star pitcher Lucas Giolito had a tough start to his season. He was pulled early from his Opening Day outing after experiencing abdominal tightness. In just 4 innings of work, Giolito managed 6 strikeouts and only gave up 1 hit before being pulled.
We saw a slew of starters pulled earlier than usual given the short Spring Training this year caused by the lockout, but Giolito was pulled for an injury and one that will now land him on the Injured List.
Giolito will head to the 10-day IL and add to the list of early season injuries the White Sox are dealing with.
The White Sox come into the season with World Series hopes, but started off on Friday with a loss to the Detroit Tigers. Chicago takes on Detroit again on Saturday, with -132 moneyline odds to come away with the road win and -1.5 (+116) on the run line, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest MLB Odds.
