Through a season filled with inconsistencies, Tim Anderson has been one of the Chicago White Sox's more reliable players. Unfortunately, the two-time MLB All-Star is heading back to the sidelines with a new injury.

MLB insider Russell Dorsey reports that Anderson is dealing with a torn ligament in his hand, likely sidelining him for the next four to six weeks. That's hardly news that White Sox fans want to hear, especially with the club sitting 2.5 games out of the AL's final wild card spot.

Tim Anderson Injury Update

To make matters worse, Dorsey also reports that "surgery is a possibility." It remains to be seen what the recovery time would look like following such a procedure, however, it looks like Anderson won't be back until sometime in September at best.

The former Silver Slugger became an All-Star for the second time in his career his season. He has six home runs, 25 RBIs and 13 stolen bases through 79 games while slashing .301/.339/.395. Unfortunately, this is his second significant injury this year after missing most of June with a groin strain.

The hope is that the time off will help Anderson bounce back when he returns. He's batting only .185 with seven strikeouts in 27 at-bats in August. Reports suggest Anderson picked up the latest injury on a checked swing over the weekend.

White Sox World Series Odds

Losing Anderson for four to six weeks could certainly hurt the White Sox's 2022 World Series odds on FanDuel Sportsbook. For now, Chicago clocks in at +4500 (No. 12) to win this fall's title.
