The Chicago White Sox are flying high with a 2.0 game lead in the AL Central. It isn’t all good news for the White Sox though.

Starting outfielder Adam Engel was placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday due to a strained hamstring.

Adam Engel Injury Update

This is especially concerning news given Engel suffered an injury to the same hamstring back in spring training that caused a delayed start to his season. He only made his season debut a few weeks ago and now he is out for at least 10 days. No timetable has been set on his return quite yet.

Engel had been a reliable hitter so far this season slashing .241/.313/.552 with 5 runs scored, 3 home runs and 4 RBI across 32 plate appearances (10 games played). The White Sox's depth will now be tested once again as the team is already without outfielders Eloy Jiménez, Luis Robert, Adam Eaton and Billy Hamilton because of injuries.

Outfielder Luis González was recalled from Triple-A to take Engel's spot on the roster. The 26-year-old was hitting .195 with the Charlotte Knights with 13 runs scored, 3 home runs and 11 RBI in 24 games played. He has also hit 3 doubles and stolen 5 bases on the season.

The White Sox will look to keep their winning ways going and make a real run at a World Series title. They currently have the second-best odds to win it all at +700, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
