A battle between two AFC North foes takes place in Week 3 as the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Cincinnati Bengals at 1 p.m. EST. FanDuel Sportsbook has the Steelers slated as 3-point home favorites in a game that features playmakers on both sides of the football.
If you need some help with your fantasy lineups, here's some start 'em, sit 'em advice for this Week 3 AFC North clash.
Tee Higgins Fantasy
Start Tee Higgins, WR, Cincinnati Bengals: Wide receiver Tee Higgins has quietly become a very reliable fantasy football player. The second-year pro leads Cincinnati with 15 targets and has scored a touchdown in each of the first two games of the season. Quarterback Joe Burrow has looked his way a lot and that shouldn't change in Week 3. The Steelers' defense has struggled to shut down the passing attack and has given up the eighth-most fantasy points to opposing WRs so far. Pittsburgh is also allowing 10.8 yards per completion (No. 20 in NFL). Fantasy managers can feel confident about sliding Higgins into a starting spot, even against this tough defense.
Diontae Johnson Fantasy
Start Diontae Johnson, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers: One player on the Steeler's offense is consistently being fed the football and that is wide receiver Diontae Johnson. He has turned his whopping 22 targets into 141 yards and 1 touchdown through two games played. Johnson's snap rate also increased to 88% in Week 2. He remains quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's go-to option and now goes up against a Cincinnati squad that has already allowed 31 receptions to opposing WRs on the season. That total is tied for the eighth-highest mark in the NFL. Johnson looked to be a bit banged up at the end of Week 2, but he should be good to go. There's no reason to bench him here.
Joe Mixon Fantasy
Sit Joe Mixon, RB, Cincinnati Bengals: This isn't a direct recommendation to bench Joe Mixon this week, but rather a warning to lower expectations a little bit. The Steelers are still stout against the run after posting the fifth-best rush defense DVOa rating in 2020. In fact, Pittsburgh has allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points to opposing RBs and is giving up just 3.4 yards per carry (T-No. 6 in NFL). Mixon's best shot to make an impact in this game is through the air as he does have 5 receptions through 2 games played. The Bengals' offensive star is a name to avoid in the daily fantasy market this week.
Ben Roethlisberger Fantasy
Sit Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers: It's no secret that Ben Roethlisberger has struggled to start the 2021 season. He is completing just 62.5% of his passes and averaging 241.5 passing yards per game. Overall, the veteran signal-caller ranks as the No. 27 QB in fantasy scoring and heads into Week 3 a bit banged up as well. Roethlisberger must face a Bengals' defense that has given up 467 passing yards through two games played (No. 11 in NFL). This doesn't look like the spot for him to come through with a big performance. The 39-year-old is a low-end QB2 against a Bengals' defense that has surpassed expectations thus far.
