A pair of NFC South divisional rivals meet head-to-head in Week 2 as the New Orleans Saints go on the road to take on the Carolina Panthers. FanDuel Sportsbook has the Saints slated as 3.5-point road favorites, which means this game could come down to the wire.
If you need some help with your fantasy lineups, here's some start 'em, sit 'em advice for this NFC South Week 2 clash.
Jameis Winston Fantasy
Start Jameis Winston, QB, New Orleans Saints: Quarterback Jameis Winston's dominance in Week 1 proves that he can be a viable streaming quarterback in fantasy football this season. The seventh-year pro tossed 5 touchdowns despite only attempting 20 passes. He ended up scoring the third-most fantasy points amongst QBs in Week 1 and now faces a Carolina defense that posted the 10th-worst pass defense DVOA rating last season. Overall, the Panthers gave up the 12th-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks in 2020. With a ton of offensive weapons to work with, Winston should be in for another big performance and is worth starting on Sunday.
DJ Moore Fantasy
Start DJ Moore, WR, Carolina Panthers: Outside of running back Christian McCaffrey, wide receiver DJ Moore is the most explosive player on the Panthers offense. He averaged 13.3 yards per catch in Week 1, which mirrors the 18.1 mark he averaged during the 2020 season. Moore also led all wide receivers with 8 targets, which makes him an early favorite target of quarterback Sam Darnold. That volume alone should be enough for Moore to overcome the task of facing a stout Saints' defense (second-best DVOA rating in 2020). Fantasy managers should feel confident that Moore has what it takes to produce in Week 2.
Deonte Harris Fantasy
Sit Deonte Harris, WR, New Orleans Saints: Wide receiver Deonte Harris is going to be a popular waiver wire pickup this week after racking up 72 yards and a touchdown on 2 receptions. That doesn't mean he is an immediate starter in fantasy football, though. Harris saw just 2 targets in Week 1, which ranked below three other pass-catchers on the Saints. Winston was simply spreading the ball around everywhere (8 different receivers). Harris remains the best deep threat on New Orleans' roster and a hit-or-miss WR in fantasy football. He just need to show more consistency in order to be worth a FLEX start.
Sam Darnold Fantasy
Sit Sam Darnold, QB, Carolina Panthers: Streaming quarterbacks throughout the season is one way fantasy managers can get a leg up during a weekly matchup. However, this is not the week to target Sam Darnold on the waiver wire. The first-year Panther is facing a Saints squad that posted the third-best pass defense DVOA rating in 2020. In fact, New Orleans gave up the third-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks last season and just shut down the reigning MVP in Aaron Rodgers. Darnold looked improved in Week 1, but it's going to take a much more favorable matchup for him to be worth starting.
