Prior to Wednesday's practice, things were looking very promising for Curtis Samuel's injury status ahead of Week 1. That all changed quickly in a disappointing turn of events as the Washington Football Team wide receiver re-aggravated his groin injury during warmups.

According to reports, Samuel was a non-participant throughout the ensuing practice, casting a serious level of doubt around his eligibility for Sunday.

The video evidence from today's practice was particularly concerning. Samuel runs a brief, non-intense route and then immediately heads to the sideline while appearing to limp and shake his head.

Washington has yet to release any official reports on Samuel's injury, however, this doesn't bode well. The former Carolina Panther was an important offseason addition in Washington after Samuel set career highs in receptions (77) and receiving yards (851) last season while hauling in 3 touchdowns.

Alongside the dynamic Terry McLaurin and new quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, Washington looked to build upon a passing attack that average just 216.6 yards per game last year (25th).

Heading into Week 1, Washington is 1-point home underdogs against the Los Angeles Chargers on FanDuel Sportsbook.
