Vikings News: Danielle Hunter Will Be at Training Camp Amidst Contract Dispute

The Minnesota Vikings are attempting to right the ship after a disappointing 2020 season in which they finished with a poor 7-9 record. There is good news heading into minicamp as defensive end Danielle Hunter will be in attendance despite being in a contract dispute with the organization.

Danielle Hunter Contract
The Vikings should be excited to have Hunter rejoin the squad after he was forced to miss the entirety of the 2020 season due to a neck injury. The defensive playmaker has racked up 276 tackles, 54.5 sacks and 6 forced fumbles over the course of five seasons played in Minnesota.
However, this doesn't mean that Hunter is backing down on his demands. He still has his eyes set on a new contract and wants it completed by opening kickoff of the NFL season in September. Just having the two-time Pro Bowler back on the field is a great first step to resolving the issues at hand.
Hunter is an elite pass-rusher and someone that completely changes the dynamic of this Minnesota defensive line. He seems primed to have a bounce-back year, but the Vikings want to make sure he is fully healthy after such a scary injury. Hunter is set to earn $12.2 million this upcoming season.
Minnesota needs to have Hunter on the field in Week 1 if it wants any shot of competing in a tough NFC North division. The Vikings currently have odds set at +128 to make the playoffs and odds set at +4000 to win the Super Bowl, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
