When the Minnesota Vikings hired Kwesi Adofo-Mensah to be their new general manager in January, one of his goals this offseason was to the improve offensive line. The Vikings were reportedly interested in offensive lineman Ryan Bates in free agency, but he opted to sign with the rival Chicago Bears.

The good news is that it hasn't taken the Vikings long to find a backup option. KSTP's Darren Wolfson is reporting that the team is scheduled to meet with OL Jesse Davis sometime on Monday after he was cut by the Miami Dolphins last week.

Vikings Free Agency

Davis started 16-of-17 games he played in for the Dolphins in 2021, playing 92% of offensive snaps. His pass protection came into question after allowing eight sacks on 1,063 offensive snaps, leaving some to wonder if he could benefit from a change in scenery.

Something that Davis brings to the table is that he can play right guard despite spending the last three seasons as a tackle. That's a bonus after Vikings fans have grown frustrated with their team's lack of interior improvements this offseason.

Oli Udoh was Minnesota's starting RG last season, yielding a 54.7 overall ProFootballFocus grade. Davis wasn't any better with his 52.5 grade, but having both players competing for the starting job could elevate their playing, giving the Vikings the best possible outcome.

FanDuel Sportsbook is currently giving the Vikings +3500 odds (T-No. 16) to win Super Bowl LVII. While those odds aren't terrible, there's room for improvement if Adofo-Mensah can continue improving the o-line over the coming months.
