The Minnesota Vikings are still likely working through the shock of their early playoff exit. However, the premature start to their offseason means they must now weigh decisions on their roster and coaching personnel.

Following the loss to the New York Giants, one Vikings coach is being eyed by another team for a potential promotion.

Keenan McCardell Patriots Rumors

The New England Patriots have requested permission to speak with wide receivers coach Keenan McCardell, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. He's one of several in the mix as Bill Belichick aims to name an official offensive coordinator in 2023 after splitting those duties this past season.

McCardell enjoyed a long and productive career as an NFL wideout before transitioning to the coaching ranks. He played 16 years in the NFL, earning a pair of Pro Bowl nods and winning a Super Bowl along the way.

After hanging up his cleats following the 2007 campaign, McCardell served as WRs coach for the Washington Commanders, University of Maryland, Jacksonville Jaguars and the Vikings. His résumé as an experienced coach and successful former pro makes him an attractive candidate to nab a promotion in the near future. It remains to be seen if the Pats end up being the team to give him that opportunity, however, as he's not the only candidate they're considering.
